Aston Villa have named Nicolas Jackson and young Senegalese forward Ibrahim Mbaye in their starting line-up for Wednesday’s Champions League meeting with Fenerbahce at Villa Park.
The match on 14 October 2026 is the second day of the competition’s league phase, with both clubs confirming their teams before kick-off. Several African players feature among the starters, including Jackson and Mbaye for the English side.
Aston Villa have also selected Aaron Wan-Bissaka, described as an international player from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, at right-back. John McGinn and Boubacar Kamara are expected to provide the midfield platform as the hosts look to control the game on home soil.
Fenerbahce have responded with Mason Greenwood and Vedat Muriqi in attack. Matteo Guendouzi and Ismail Yuksek are included in midfield, while Nelson Semedo and Milan Skriniar form part of the Turkish side’s defensive line.
Fenerbahce’s plan will be to withstand Aston Villa’s pressure and take advantage of their opportunities in the hope of leaving with a positive result.
