Former Orlando Pirates defender Rooi Mahamutsa has completed his CAF C Diploma, marking another milestone in his football career, his former club VTM Football Club of Botswana has confirmed.
VTM FC congratulated Mahamutsa on its official social media platforms and highlighted the role he played during his time with the Botswana-based side.
“Our former no nonsense defender completed his CAF C Diploma. Congratulations Rooi Mahamutsa on your milestone,” the club said.
Mahamutsa was also recognised for helping VTM FC earn promotion to the Botswana Premier League. The club then finished sixth in its first season in Botswana’s top flight.
The qualification represents another step in Mahamutsa’s football journey following a playing career in which he became particularly well known in South Africa for his time with Orlando Pirates.
He established himself as a dependable and uncompromising defender at the Soweto club and was part of a side that achieved considerable success in domestic competitions while also competing on the continental stage.
Mahamutsa’s performances for Pirates made him a familiar figure among the club’s supporters. His direct, no-nonsense approach in defence was a defining feature of his playing career.
Having now completed the CAF C Diploma, Mahamutsa has begun preparing for the next phase of his involvement in football. The qualification could provide a foundation for future coaching opportunities as he seeks to remain in the game beyond his playing career.
