Carrasco says international break helped transform Al-Shabab’s fortunes

Yannick Carrasco says Al-Shabab benefited significantly from the latest international break after returning to Saudi League action with a 3-0 victory over Al-Taawoun.

The result was Al-Shabab’s first league win since the end of the international break and moved the club to 12th in the Saudi League standings with seven points.

Carrasco, the Belgian forward and Al-Shabab captain, told Asharq Al-Awsat: “I am very happy with this victory and hope it will not be our last this season.”

Asked about the main changes within the team during the break, Carrasco pointed to improvements in both fitness and team spirit.

“We now have more energy and our physical readiness has improved,” he said. “The players’ collective spirit and fighting spirit have also increased, and that is the most important thing.”

Carrasco also called on Al-Shabab supporters to continue backing the team during the next stage of the season.

He said the players were determined to work together as one team in pursuit of the club’s ambitions and the expectations of their supporters.

“We will try to continue in this way and fight together as one team,” he added. “We need the support and backing of our fans to achieve our objectives.”
