Trabzonspor have begun negotiations with Manchester United over a permanent transfer for goalkeeper Andre Onana, who is currently on loan at the Turkish club.
The Cameroon international’s loan agreement does not include an option to buy, meaning Trabzonspor must negotiate a separate deal if they are to retain him beyond the current arrangement.
According to 61saat, Trabzonspor have already opened discussions with Manchester United about signing the 30-year-old on a permanent basis. The club’s coaching staff and management are reportedly satisfied with Onana’s performances, while his character has also been well received within the squad.
Manchester United are understood to be seeking a transfer fee of about 10m euros for the goalkeeper. Trabzonspor, however, hope to agree a lower figure, with Onana’s annual salary a factor in their position.
Reports have also suggested that Onana is open to remaining at Trabzonspor. He could ask Manchester United to show flexibility over the proposed transfer fee as the two clubs consider a possible agreement.
Onana’s current contract with Manchester United is due to expire at the end of the season. However, the English club have the right to extend the deal until summer 2028 by activating the one-year extension clause included in his contract.
