Mamelodi Sundowns recovered from last weekend’s defeat by Kaizer Chiefs with a convincing 3-0 victory against Kruger United in the Diski Challenge on Sunday morning.
The Brazilians had surrendered a two-goal advantage against the Soweto club in their previous match. Kruger United were also looking to respond after losing to fellow newly promoted side Milford FC.
Sundowns took control when Simphiwe Mlondo opened the scoring. Last season’s runners-up then extended their advantage two minutes after half-time through Lehlohonolo Mahlangu.
Sechaba Gaseitsiwe completed the scoring in the 70th minute to secure a comfortable win for Mamelodi Sundowns.
Sekhukhune end winless run
Sekhukhune United returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Durban City.
Trevor Mathebula put Babina Noko ahead in the first half before Sizani Mokgalaka added a second before the interval. The two goals were enough to secure maximum points.
Gallants claim first win
Marumo Gallants recorded their first Diski Challenge victory of the season by beating Milford FC 4-2 on Sunday morning.
The result ended Milford’s attempt to build on their first win of the campaign, which they had secured the previous weekend.
Stellenbosch defeat Polokwane
Stellenbosch FC also secured their first victory of the campaign, overcoming Polokwane City 2-1.
Polokwane City, known as Rise and Shine, remain without a win after three matches this season.
