Abdullah El Said and Zizo chasing rare Al Ahly-Zamalek scoring record

The latest Cairo derby could produce a 10th player to score for both Al Ahly and Zamalek in the fixture, with Zamalek midfielder Abdullah El Said and Al Ahly forward Ahmed Sayed “Zizo” in contention.

Al Ahly visit Zamalek at Cairo Stadium at 20:00 on Sunday in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League.

Several players involved have previously represented the opposing club, but only nine footballers have scored in the derby while wearing the shirts of both sides.

Moroccan forward Ashraf Bencharki was the most recent player to achieve the feat. He is also the only non-Egyptian on the list.

El Said has scored four goals for Al Ahly against Zamalek before moving to the White Castle. Zizo also found the net four times for Zamalek against Al Ahly before making the switch to the Red Castle.

A goal by either player on Sunday would make them the 10th individual to score for both clubs in the derby.

The nine players to have previously done so are:

1. Abdel Karim Sakr 2. Mostafa Kamel Taha 3. Labib Mahmoud 4. Gamal Abdel Hamid 5. Hossam Hassan 6. Ahmed Hassan 7. Mahmoud Abdel Moneim “Kahraba” 8. Emam Ashour 9. Ashraf Bencharki

The match also features three Al Ahly players who have represented Zamalek but have not scored against their current club: Yasser Ibrahim, Yassin Marei and Ahmed Reda.

The focus will therefore be on whether El Said or Zizo can join the exclusive group of players to have scored for both sides in one of Egyptian football’s biggest fixtures.
