AI predicts 1-1 draw for Al Ahly and Zamalek in Egyptian Premier League derby

Artificial intelligence has forecast a 1-1 draw between Zamalek and Al Ahly in Sunday’s Egyptian Premier League meeting, with both sides level on 13 points after five matches.

The sixth-round fixture, scheduled for the evening of 11 October 2026, is expected to be decided by the narrow margins between two teams competing near the top of the table. Pyramids currently lead the standings with 15 points, increasing the importance of the derby for both clubs.

The prediction was produced after Kooora submitted a series of topical football questions to artificial intelligence, without editorial intervention. The question in this edition was: “What is the expected result of the Al Ahly and Zamalek match in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League?”

Kooora said all responses, including any linguistic or factual errors, were published as provided by the artificial intelligence system.

Its predicted score was: Zamalek 1-1 Al Ahly.

Why a draw is expected

The main reason given for the forecast is the similarity in the teams’ league campaigns so far. Both have collected 13 points from five matches, although Zamalek are ahead on goal difference.

Zamalek’s defensive record was also identified as a potential factor. According to the match data cited, they had conceded only one goal during the season before the derby, which could make it difficult for Al Ahly to break through.

Al Ahly, however, have shown stronger recent attacking numbers. They have scored 11 goals in their last five matches, according to FotMob data, compared with nine for Zamalek over the same period. That record could allow Al Ahly to find the net even if they struggle to control the match or secure victory.

The significance of the three points in the title race may also encourage both teams to adopt a cautious approach. With the sides so closely matched, the need to avoid falling behind could limit the risks taken, particularly during the opening stages.

Expected match pattern

The forecast suggests Zamalek will begin with greater intensity, helped by playing at home. Al Ahly are expected to look for opportunities to attack in transition and exploit spaces left by their opponents.

The predicted scenario is for each side to score once before tactical caution becomes more prominent in the closing stages. As the match reaches its final minutes, the importance of avoiding defeat could lead both teams to reduce their attacking commitment, making a 1-1 result the anticipated outcome.
