Learner Tien will join the line-up for the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh after Jannik Sinner withdrew from the tournament because of injury.
The 20-year-old American is one of the leading emerging players in men’s tennis and has made significant progress in the world rankings over the past year.
Tien reached a career-high ranking of 12th in the world and has recorded a series of notable victories against players established among the sport’s elite.
He first attracted widespread attention at the 2025 Australian Open, where he defeated Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in a five-set match. He continued his rise with wins over several leading players on the tour, including Germany’s Alexander Zverev.
Tien also faced Sinner in the final of the 2025 Beijing tournament before progressing further in the following season by reaching the quarter-finals of the 2026 Australian Open.
The third edition of the Six Kings Slam will take place in Riyadh on 21, 22 and 24 October. The event brings together six of the world’s leading players in a knockout competition.
Alongside Tien, the tournament will feature Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, Germany’s Alexander Zverev and American Taylor Fritz. Australia’s Alex de Minaur will make his first appearance in the competition.
The Six Kings Slam is part of the international sporting events being staged as part of the seventh edition of Riyadh Season.
The tournament was first announced in 2024 and has been held twice so far. Sinner won both previous editions, while the event has brought together several of the sport’s highest-ranked players for high-profile matches.
