Yan Diomande marked his first appearance on the scoresheet for Real Madrid by helping the 10-man Spanish giants secure a 1-0 victory over Villarreal in La Liga on Saturday.
The Ivorian forward struck in the 62nd minute during the eighth round of the league season, scoring the only goal of a difficult match for Real Madrid.
The goal also placed Diomande among a select group of foreign players to have scored for the club in La Liga before turning 20. He became the 11th Real Madrid player to achieve that feat.
According to the Mr Chip account on X, Diomande has joined an illustrious list featuring Argentina’s Gonzalo Higuain and Franco Mastantuono, France’s Raphael Varane and Eduardo Camavinga, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, Brazil’s Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Endrick, Uruguay’s Alvaro Rodriguez, and Turkey’s Arda Guler.
Diomande, who will turn 20 in November, joined Real Madrid from German club Leipzig last summer in a deal worth about 140m euros.
His goal against Villarreal was his first for the club since completing that move and proved decisive as Real Madrid held on for victory despite playing with 10 men.
