Zamalek striker Oday Dabbagh is suffering from a severe cold just hours before Sunday’s Egyptian Premier League meeting with Al Ahly at Cairo International Stadium.
The two Cairo rivals will meet in the sixth round of the league, with Dabbagh’s availability set to be decided later on Saturday.
According to FilGoal.com, Zamalek’s medical staff are making intensive efforts to treat the Palestine international, while head coach Moataz Gamal will make a final decision on whether he can play against Al Ahly in the evening.
Dabbagh took part in Zamalek’s full-team training on Friday alongside Chico Banza and Adam Kaied as preparations continued for the derby. However, the striker subsequently reported symptoms of a severe cold.
The 26-year-old was in impressive form during the latest international break with Palestine. He played in three matches, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
Before the international fixtures, Dabbagh had registered two assists for Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League. He is also the leading goalscorer in Palestine’s history.
Al Ahly are currently third in the league table with 13 points. They are level on points with second-placed Zamalek, who trail leaders Pyramids by two points.
