Michael Carrick says Manchester United’s injury situation is “mixed” ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.
United host Tottenham at 19:30 on Saturday in the sixth round of fixtures, with Carrick assessing the fitness of seven players before the match.
“The situation is a little mixed after the international break,” said Carrick. “Patrick Dorgu will probably be out for several weeks with his injury.”
Noussair Mazraoui has also been affected, although the defender has not fully recovered.
“Noussair Mazraoui picked up an injury and is not completely recovered yet,” Carrick added. “We will see how he is.”
There was more encouraging news regarding Amad Diallo, Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo, who have all returned to some training.
“Carlos Baleba is improving, while Benjamin Sesko has made further progress in his recovery, but he is still a long way from being available,” Carrick said.
Carrick discusses Manchester City case
Carrick was also asked about the allegations involving Manchester City and said the ongoing case would not change the feelings involved at the time of the events.
“Whatever happens, it cannot change the feelings at that time,” he said.
The Manchester City case has raised a number of questions, although Carrick acknowledged that some have been answered while others remain unresolved.
“It has raised a lot of questions. Some of them have been answered and some have not,” he said. “As the case is still ongoing, and we do not know how long it will continue, I can only say very little.”
Carrick said he had his own questions about the matter and that it had affected him personally over time, but he did not know how the proceedings would develop or what the final outcome would be.
“Of course I have my own questions about it,” he said. “It has affected me personally in different ways over time. But with the case currently ongoing, I do not know where it has reached or how it will end.
“We have to wait and see. The sooner this issue is resolved, the more necessary I believe that is for everyone’s benefit.”
Manchester United go into the game 12th in the Premier League with five points from one win, two draws and two defeats.
Tottenham Hotspur are bottom of the table with two points from two draws and three losses. They have yet to win a league match.
