Mohamed Hany not on Al Ahly Tripoli wishlist

Al Ahly Tripoli have denied reports linking them with a move for Egyptian international Mohamed Hany, insisting they have not held talks with the Al Ahly right-back.

The 30-year-old experienced defender had been linked with a move to the Libyan outfit amid uncertain future with the Egyptian football powerhouse.

Hany, who represented Egypt at the 2026 World Cup tournament in North America will see his current contract expire in summer 2027.

The defender has been a regular option at right-back for the Egyptian giants in recent years, gaining considerable domestic and continental experience. His contractual situation has therefore attracted attention as supporters await a decision on whether he will remain at the club.

Al Ahly Tripoli had been linked with the defender as they continue to strengthen their squad. The Libyan side have recruited several high-profile players, including Pyramids FC striker Fiston Mayele, former Ceramica Cleopatra forward Fakhri Lakay and winger Jean Claude, who has represented Burundi and Sudanese club Al-Hilal.

However, the club’s denial means there is currently no confirmed basis for claims that they are pursuing Hany.

For now, the defender’s future remains a matter for Al Ahly and the player to resolve as discussions over a possible contract extension continue.
