Saudi Clasico: Al Hilal host Al Ittihad in crucial top-two clash

Al Hilal will host Al Ittihad at Kingdom Arena on Saturday in the Saudi Pro League’s 2026-2027 season, with the two leading sides separated by just one point.

The fixture headlines the eighth round of the competition and comes as the Saudi professional league resumes on Friday, only days after Saudi Arabia won the Gulf Cup.

Al Hilal start the weekend at the top of the table, one point ahead of Al Ittihad. Al Nassr and Al Qadsiah are only two points behind the leaders, while Neom sit fifth, three points off first place.

The tight standings have made the title race highly competitive from the opening stages, although there remains a long way to go before the championship is decided.

Al Hilal face Al Ittihad on Saturday, 10 October 2026, at Kingdom Arena.

Kick-off is scheduled for 21:00 Saudi Arabia time and 22:00 in the United Arab Emirates.

Saudi sports network Thmanyah holds the exclusive rights to broadcast Saudi Pro League matches in the Middle East and North Africa for the 2025-2026 season. The Al Hilal-Al Ittihad match will be shown on Thmanyah.

Al Hilal have won 51 of those matches, compared with 30 victories for Al Ittihad, while the remaining 29 games ended in draws.

Expected Al Hilal line-up

Al Hilal manager Simone Inzaghi is expected to use a 4-3-3 formation.

Yassine Bounou is set to start in goal, with Theo Hernandez, Hassan Tambakti, Kalidou Koulibaly and Mohammed Mahzari forming the defence.

Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Mohammad Kanno are expected in midfield.

The front three are likely to be Gabriel Martinelli, Crysencio Summerville and Ollie Watkins.

Expected Al Ittihad line-up

Al Ittihad manager Jens Wissing is expected to choose the same 4-3-3 system.

Predrag Rajkovic should begin in goal, behind a defensive line of Fares Abdi, Danilo Pereira, Saad Al-Mousa and Ahmed Al-Jalidan.

Richard Rios, Desire Doue and Houssem Aouar are expected to make up the midfield.

Steven Bergwijn, George Ilenikhena and Youssef En-Nesyri are set to lead the attack.
