Zamalek assistant coach Ibrahim Salah will be available for Sunday’s league meeting with Al Ahly despite being sent off during his side’s defeat by ZED.

Zamalek began their Egypt Capital Cup campaign with a 3-0 loss to ZED in the opening round. Salah was dismissed after protesting against the referee and was forced to watch the remainder of the match from the stands.

He took charge of Zamalek’s youth team against ZED, with first-team manager Moatamed Gamal absent as he focused on preparations for the forthcoming derby.

Zamalek face Al Ahly on Sunday, 11 October, at Cairo Stadium in the sixth round of the league.

However, Salah’s dismissal in the Egypt Capital Cup will not prevent him from taking his place in the technical area for the league fixture. Article 55 of the competition’s regulations states: “If a member of the technical or administrative staff is sent off because of a second booking, he will be suspended for one match in the same competition.”

As a result, Salah will miss Zamalek’s next Egypt Capital Cup match but can be present for the derby against Al Ahly.

Al Ahly opened their own campaign with a 5-0 victory over Petrol Asyut in the first round, while Zamalek’s youth side suffered a 3-0 defeat by ZED.

In the league, Zamalek and Al Ahly are level on 13 points and occupy second place, with Zamalek ahead on goal difference. Pyramids lead the table with 15 points.
