Harry Kane double puts England on brink of Nations League quarter-finals

England moved closer to the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals with a 3-0 victory over the Czech Republic at Wembley, with Harry Kane scoring twice.

Vladimir Coufal’s own goal gave England the lead in the 27th minute during the fourth round of matches in Group C.

Kane then doubled the advantage five minutes before half-time, scoring in the 40th minute to put England in control.

The England captain struck again in the 57th minute to complete the scoring and register his second goal of the match.

The result moved England on to nine points in second place in Group C, three behind leaders Spain, who have 12 points. The Czech Republic remain without a point.

England are now close to securing a place in the last eight and could join Spain and Portugal, who are the first teams to qualify for the quarter-finals.

A win or draw against the Czech Republic in their next match would be enough for England to progress. They could also qualify if they lose both of their remaining games, provided Croatia do not overturn the sizeable goal difference.

England will face Croatia and Spain next month.
