Barcelona are preparing to announce that Raphinha has signed a new contract keeping him at the club until the summer of 2030, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Brazil international’s current deal was due to expire in the summer of 2028, but an agreement has now been completed to extend his stay by a further two years.
Romano reports that all the details have been approved and that Barcelona have finalised the agreement with Raphinha’s representatives and lawyers. The club is expected to make the extension official this week, with the signing ceremony also scheduled to take place in the coming days.
Friday is considered the most likely date for the announcement, provided the documentation is completed as planned, according to Romano.
The development follows comments made several weeks ago by Barcelona sporting director Deco, who said the club had reached an agreement in principle with Raphinha, described as the club’s captain.
Speaking during the club’s general assembly, Deco said: “We have an initial agreement to renew Raphinha’s contract and it will be signed soon.”
He added: “The new agreement is set to run until June 2030, which means an additional four years.”
Raphinha joined Barcelona from English club Leeds United in the summer of 2022. He has made 185 appearances for the Catalan side, scoring 89 goals and providing 62 assists.
He became Barcelona’s first-choice captain following the departure of German goalkeeper ter Stegen, who joined Ajax on loan.
