Barcelona set to announce Raphinha contract extension until 2030

Barcelona are preparing to announce the renewal of Raphinha’s contract until 2030, reaffirming their commitment to one of the key attacking players in Hansi Flick’s plans.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Brazil forward will sign the new agreement with Barcelona president Joan Laporta on Friday. Raphinha is then expected to hold a news conference to explain why he has chosen to continue his career at the Catalan club.

The 28-year-old’s previous contract was due to run until 2028, but Raphinha had asked Barcelona to extend his deal to provide greater long-term security. The new agreement will retain a €1bn release clause.

Raphinha also received strong offers from Saudi clubs during the summer. However, he remained determined to stay at Barcelona, while seeking an improved salary that reflected his current status within the team and a contract lasting until 2030.

His importance to the club has increased significantly since Flick took charge. The German manager persuaded Raphinha to remain at Barcelona and gave him a leadership role in the side.

Raphinha also agreed this season to play as a central striker after Barcelona failed to sign Julian Alvarez. The change to the number nine position has proved highly effective, with the Brazilian becoming the team’s top scorer and one of its most important attacking pressing outlets.

That development has strengthened Raphinha’s position as a central figure in Barcelona’s plans for the coming years. His decision to stay represents a continuation of the partnership between the player and the club, with both sides now expected to formalise the arrangement on Friday.

At his news conference, Raphinha is expected to discuss the reasons behind his decision and his commitment to Barcelona through 2030.
