Kylian Mbappe steps up individual training as Real Madrid plan cautious return

Kylian Mbappe has returned to Madrid and resumed individual training as he continues his recovery ahead of Real Madrid’s return to action after the international break.

The France forward was seen at Real Madrid’s training complex on Monday, working alone while the rest of the squad remained on holiday and had yet to resume collective training.

Mbappe scored the only goal in France’s Nations League group-stage match against Turkey before being forced off in the 59th minute with an injury. Real Madrid subsequently confirmed that the 26-year-old would be out for two weeks after suffering a muscle strain.

The club are not prepared to rush Mbappe back into competitive action and want to give him sufficient time to recover from the knee injury, according to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

The report says Real Madrid are considering resting Mbappe for their La Liga fixture against Villarreal in the eighth round of matches, as well as their second Champions League game against Roma.

That would allow him to target a return against Sevilla in La Liga’s ninth round, which comes before Real Madrid face Barcelona in the 10th round.

Mbappe has made eight appearances for Real Madrid this season, scoring eight goals and providing two assists.

Real Madrid are fourth in the La Liga table with 15 points and are preparing to host Villarreal on Saturday in the eighth round of the competition.
