Orlando Pirates await injury boost before MTN8 final against Mamelodi Sundowns
Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou says six injured players have returned to training, but he cannot yet confirm whether any will be fit to face Mamelodi Sundowns in Saturday’s MTN8 final.
Evidence Makgopa, Thalente Mbatha, Mohau Nkota, Makhehleni Makhaula, Kabelo Dlamini and Andre De Jong have all been unavailable in recent weeks as a result of injury.
The players have now rejoined the squad for training as Pirates continue their preparations for the final. However, their involvement against Sundowns remains uncertain, with the club still assessing their condition ahead of the match.
“Look, what I can tell you is that they are in good shape, they are coming back,” said Ouaddou.
“We are doing everything and the medical department, performance department are doing everything for them to be available for the next games.
“For now, I cannot tell you more about these players. It’s very good news for us to see them on the field and to train with us.
“I cannot go for the next game. Maybe you will see the next couple of games.”
