HONOR X5d s launches nationwide with dual screens, 6000mAh battery and 50MP camera

HONOR’s new X5d s smartphone will go on sale across South Africa from 7 October 2026, offering two screens, a 6000mAh battery and a 50MP rear camera at a recommended price of R2 499.

The device is aimed at the entry-level market, where consumers have traditionally had fewer choices than those shopping in the mid-tier and premium categories. It will be available in Forest Green and Midnight Black.

The X5d s features a 6.78-inch main display with a resolution of 720×1576 pixels and a peak brightness of 600nit. A 2.01-inch secondary screen on the rear has a resolution of 240×296 pixels. Both displays are protected by aluminosilicate glass.

HONOR says the rear screen is designed to offer more than an additional way to view information. Its one-tap selfie function turns the smaller display into a live preview window, allowing users to frame photographs taken with the rear camera.

The secondary screen also includes interactive themes, including the “Select a Pet” feature. Users can choose a digital pet that responds to touches, sleeps when the phone is idle and remains visible as an interactive companion on the rear display.

A 50MP rear camera includes 4X digital zoom. The front-facing camera is rated at 5MP and supports 1080P video recording at 1920×1080 pixels. These capabilities are intended to cover everyday photography and video, from graduation ceremonies to live Amapiano performances.

Power comes from a Lithium-ion polymer battery with a capacity of 6000 mAh. It supports 15W charging, giving the phone enough capacity for extended use during days out, visits to football grounds or recording performances and DJ sets.

The handset also has IP52 water and dust resistance. HONOR says this protection is intended to help the X5d s remain suitable for use from Spring through the summer-filled Festive Season.

The HONOR X5d s will be sold at all stores nationwide from 7 October 2026. It will be offered in the two available colour options, Forest Green and Midnight Black, with the recommended retail price set at R2 499.
