SC Freiburg and Borussia Monchengladbach are among the clubs monitoring Rosenborg BK forward Amin Chiakha, whose form has attracted interest from across Europe, according to Fussball News.
The 20-year-old Algeria international has scored 14 goals and provided three assists in 22 appearances in all competitions for Rosenborg since the start of the season.
The two Bundesliga clubs have regularly watched Chiakha since his time in Denmark and are currently considered the leading contenders to pursue his signature. Stade Rennais, AS Monaco, Sevilla FC, RSC Anderlecht and KAA Gent have also made enquiries about the striker.
No formal negotiations have started between Rosenborg and any of the interested clubs. For now, the work being carried out is limited to scouting and assessing the player.
Rosenborg hold a strong position after making Chiakha’s move permanent in August, when they activated an option to buy him from FC Copenhagen.
Rosenborg set their asking price
The transfer fee of five million euros made Chiakha the most expensive signing in the history of Norwegian football. He agreed a contract with Rosenborg running until 31 December 2030.
The Norwegian club’s directors have ruled out allowing him to leave during the winter transfer window. A departure would only be considered if an exceptional financial offer were presented.
Chiakha’s current market value is estimated at 8 million euros, but Rosenborg are seeking between 15 and 20 million euros for the forward. The club also want any agreement to include a percentage of the proceeds from a future sale.
His performances have strengthened Rosenborg’s bargaining position. Chiakha’s return of 14 goals and three assists in 22 matches has made him one of the most closely watched young forwards in the Norwegian league.
Interest in the Algeria international comes after his development through FC Copenhagen and his subsequent move to Rosenborg. While several European clubs are tracking his progress, there has been no indication that the Norwegian side are prepared to negotiate below their valuation.
Algeria are also due to play a friendly against Niger soon.
