Iliman Ndiaye keeps open the possibility of a future Marseille return

Iliman Ndiaye has not completely closed the door on returning to Olympique de Marseille, despite a move back to the club being highly unlikely in the short or medium term.

The 26-year-old forward is currently back in the Marseille region with Senegal, who are due to face Comoros in a friendly. Speaking to La Provence, Ndiaye discussed his continuing connection with Olympique de Marseille.

He received a warm reception from local supporters on his arrival, with fans immediately urging him to return to the club. The Senegal international acknowledged that the welcome had been particularly emotional.

However, the financial and contractual circumstances make a reunion difficult. Ndiaye recently joined Manchester City on a deal that runs until 2031, while his current estimated transfer value is €55m.

Olympique de Marseille’s finances are currently in the red, meaning such a fee would represent an insurmountable obstacle for the club. Although Ndiaye’s bond with the Marseille supporters remains strong, the present economic conditions have moved the prospect of a transfer further away.
