Jules Kounde monitored by five Premier League clubs as Barcelona demand big-money offer

Jules Kounde’s reduced role at Barcelona since the start of the season has attracted renewed interest from five leading Premier League clubs.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool are all watching the France international’s situation, with the possibility that his future could change in the coming months.

Kounde is highly regarded in England because of his ability to operate at both right-back and centre-back, as well as his experience at international level. Chelsea and Arsenal currently appear to be the most interested clubs.

Chelsea value the 26-year-old’s defensive versatility, while Arsenal showed an interest in signing him during the previous summer transfer window. Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool are also continuing to monitor developments, particularly if Kounde’s involvement remains limited under Hansi Flick.

There have been no formal negotiations or offers made to Barcelona for Kounde at this stage. The Catalan club are under no immediate pressure to sell, after the defender recently signed a contract extension that runs until 2030.

Kounde has also made clear that he wants to continue his career at Camp Nou. His preference is to regain his regular starting place and retain an important role in Flick’s plans.

His sporting situation over the next few months is therefore expected to be the key factor in determining what happens next. A continued decline in playing time could increase interest from England, but Barcelona would not be willing to let him leave easily.

The club would only consider his departure if an exceptionally high financial offer arrived – effectively a bid that would be difficult to refuse.

While the Premier League clubs assess Kounde’s position, Barcelona are also monitoring the right-back market in case circumstances change. Pedro Porro of Tottenham and Ivan Fresneda of Sporting CP are among the players attracting the club’s attention.

For now, however, Kounde remains a Barcelona player with a long-term contract, and there is no indication of an imminent transfer. The immediate focus will be on whether he can restore his place in the side and remain a significant part of Flick’s project.
