Liverpool make Brentford defender Michael Kayode a transfer priority

Liverpool have identified Brentford right-back Michael Kayode as their leading defensive target for future transfer windows, according to CaughtOffside.

The 22-year-old Italy international of Nigerian descent has also attracted interest from Arsenal, Newcastle and Tottenham, with those clubs monitoring his progress closely.

Kayode has become an important player for Brentford since joining the London club. His performances and potential have drawn attention from several leading English sides, while his versatility and ability to influence matches from the flank fit the profile sought by clubs looking to strengthen in defence.

Liverpool are said to be particularly impressed by Kayode’s qualities and have made his signing a priority. However, the Reds face competition for the former Fiorentina defender, with Arsenal, Newcastle and Tottenham also understood to be following his situation.

Interest in Italy is also growing. Juventus and other Serie A clubs are reportedly aware of Kayode’s performances, although no formal offer has been made at this stage.

Brentford are not expected to make a sale straightforward. The club are believed to value the defender at between 60 and 65 million euros and have him under contract until 2032.

Liverpool are continuing to assess the situation before deciding whether to make an approach. Kayode’s estimated market value on Transfermarkt is 40 million euros.

Brentford are next due to face Aston Villa in their sixth match of the English league season.
