Egypt to host Arab Club Champions Cup in summer 2027

Egypt will stage the Arab Club Champions Cup in the summer of 2027, with the tournament set to feature the champions of Arab domestic leagues, according to Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat.

Cairo has been chosen to host the competition, in what the report described as a continuation of the strong support shown by Egyptian football supporters.

Saudi club Al-Nassr will enter as holders, alongside the winners of the Arab league competitions. The tournament is expected to bring together the leading clubs from across the region.

Al-Nassr won the previous edition after beating Al-Nassr 2-1 in the final, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring both goals.

Egyptian club Zamalek also took part in that edition but failed to reach the knockout stage. They finished third in their group with four points.

Al-Shabab topped the group on seven points, while Al-Nassr finished second with five. Tunisia’s US Monastir brought up the bottom of the table without a point.

The 2027 competition will therefore return to Egypt, with Cairo set to provide the venue for the latest edition of the Arab Club Champions Cup.
