MTN8 final tickets expected to sell out quickly as demand surges

Tickets for the MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are expected to be in huge demand, with the limited general-admission allocation going on sale on Friday.

The match will take place at Moses Mabhida Stadium on October 10, with kick-off scheduled for 18h00. Sales will begin online at 10h00, and general-admission tickets will cost R150.

Interest in the final is likely to be heightened by the possibility of a landmark achievement for Orlando Pirates. Victory would move the club level with Kaizer Chiefs on 21 trophies in the PSL era.

A win would also give The Bucs a fifth consecutive MTN8 title, extending their dominance in the competition.

Moses Mabhida Stadium has a capacity of 56 000. Around 48 000 seats are allocated to the general-admission category, although only about 85% of those tickets are expected to be released because of security considerations.

With the game being a final and the available supply restricted, the sold-out notice is expected to appear on the same day that sales open.

The remaining seats at the Durban stadium, including suites and other ticket categories, will also be made available on Friday.

The PSL has set a limit of four tickets per person. Supporters have been advised to make arrangements before sales begin because the process will include an online queue before buyers can reach the ticket-purchasing page.

“Spectators are encouraged to prepare in advance” for their purchases, the PSL said.

Once tickets have been placed in a customer’s cart, there will be 10 minutes to complete payment. After a successful transaction, the buyer will receive a confirmation email containing the details of the purchase.

Every spectator must have a valid ticket to enter Moses Mabhida Stadium, including children.

Tickets will be sold exclusively online through opentickets.
