Tottenham defender Jan Paul van Hecke ruled out of Netherlands trip to Greece

The Netherlands will travel to Greece on Wednesday without Tottenham defender Jan Paul van Hecke because of a foot injury.

The Netherlands face Greece away in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday, but Van Hecke has been ruled out after suffering severe pain from an injury sustained during Sunday’s match against Serbia.

The defender attempted to take part in the Netherlands’ final training session before the team’s departure on Wednesday morning. However, he was forced to leave the session shortly after it began.

Van Hecke will return to Tottenham as a precaution, the Netherlands said.

No replacement will be called up for the injured defender.

The Netherlands will travel to Thessaloniki with a squad of 23 players for their match against Greece.

The team will conclude the international break on Sunday when they face Serbia in Eindhoven.
