Tunisia cancel planned friendly against Mali

Tunisia’s coaching staff, led by Moein Chaabani, have cancelled the national team’s friendly against Mali.

The match had been scheduled for 3 October at Rades Stadium, but it will no longer take place.

Tunisia began their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with two home draws, sharing the points with Uganda and Botswana. Those results leave the team on two points and third in the group, level with Botswana.

The decision comes during a difficult period for Tunisia, whose performances have declined. That downturn was also evident at the World Cup, where the team lost all three of its matches.

The Tunisian Football Federation dismissed Sabri Lamouchi as manager after the team’s first World Cup game. His fellow Frenchman, Herve Renard, then took charge of the national side.

Following the World Cup, Tunisia appointed Moein Chaabani as head coach of the Eagles of Carthage.
