Ghana and Gambia draw 2-2 at half-time in Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifier

Ghana and Gambia are level at 2-2 at half-time after a thrilling first half in their Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying match.

The Black Stars took control after 27 minutes when Ernest Nuamah converted a left-footed penalty to put Ghana ahead.

Ghana doubled their lead six minutes later through Felix Afena-Gyan, who scored directly from a free-kick with a right-footed effort that went in close to the post.

Gambia responded quickly after falling two goals behind. Abdoulie Sanyang won a penalty in the 35th minute after being fouled by Gideon Mensah inside the area.

Mohamed Badamosi took responsibility and converted from the spot two minutes later, reducing Gambia’s deficit to 2-1.

The Scorpions continued to apply pressure and completed their comeback before the interval. Omar Colley brought Gambia level in the 42nd minute with a right-footed shot after Yaya Bojang headed the ball into his path.

The two sides therefore go into half-time at 2-2 following an action-packed opening period in which both teams enjoyed spells of dominance.
