Jan Gyamerah withdraws from Ghana squad with injury

Jan Gyamerah will not join Ghana’s squad during the international break after withdrawing because of a muscular problem in his adductor area.

The 31-year-old right-back had been selected for the Black Stars’ upcoming fixtures, but the issue has forced him to cancel his involvement at short notice. The setback is an unwanted blow for both the player and Ghana, who will now prepare without the experienced SV Elversberg defender.

According to reports from the Saarbrucker Zeitung, there is currently no clear information about how long Gyamerah could be unavailable. His condition will likely be monitored closely over the coming days, with Elversberg expected to manage his workload carefully when club training resumes.

The international break could nevertheless work in Gyamerah’s favour. The additional recovery time may allow him to settle the problem before Elversberg’s next Bundesliga assignment.

That match is scheduled for October 10, when Elversberg will travel to face Union Berlin. The club will hope Gyamerah can use the break to recover sufficiently and return to full training before then.

For now, Ghana must proceed without the defender, while Elversberg await further updates regarding his fitness.
