Nigeria begin Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying preparations with first training session

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will hold their first training session for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying campaign in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, on Tuesday.

The three-time African champions are preparing to face Madagascar in their opening group qualifier on Friday, 25 September, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Promise Efoghe, the Super Eagles’ media officer, announced the team’s schedule on Monday evening.

The opening 15 minutes of Tuesday’s training session will be accessible to members of the media for coverage. The full squad is then scheduled to speak to journalists in exclusive interviews on Wednesday at Nigeria’s base in Ikot Ekpene.

The sessions will give Nigeria the opportunity to work on their tactics and improve their physical preparation before they meet Madagascar’s Barea.

Nigeria have won their past three meetings with Madagascar and will be looking to extend that positive record when the sides meet in Uyo.

After Friday’s opening fixture, the Super Eagles will travel to Guinea-Bissau for their second qualifying match on Tuesday, 29 September.

Madagascar have already arrived in Uyo ahead of the game.
