Asamoah Gyan handed new Ghana role linking Black Stars with clubs and players

Asamoah Gyan has joined the Ghana technical staff in a new position focused on maintaining links between the Black Stars, their players and their clubs.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced the appointment in a statement published on its website. The former Ghana striker has been named Head of Player and Club Relations.

Gyan’s responsibilities will include helping the technical team communicate with clubs and players, particularly over international call-ups and player welfare.

“ As Head of Player and Club Relations, Gyan will play a key liaison role between the technical team, players and clubs, facilitate communication regarding call-ups and player welfare, and provide mentorship and support to players,” the GFA said.

The organisation is also relying on the former forward’s experience to help motivate and guide the current generation of Black Stars players.

“His experience, leadership and close ties with the current generation of players are expected to be a major asset to the team,” the GFA added.

Gyan is Ghana’s all-time leading goalscorer and will now take on a formal role within the national team setup after his playing career.
