Mohamed Salah earns Jurgen Klopp’s praise after first Trabzonspor hat-trick

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised Mohamed Salah after the Egypt forward scored a hat-trick in Trabzonspor’s 3-? victory over defending Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray.

The 34-year-old struck in the 4th, 44th and 80th minutes, while also providing an assist, as Trabzonspor secured their third win in six league matches and inflicted a heavy defeat on the holders.

Salah is in his first season in Turkey after leaving the Premier League, but has continued to produce the form that made him one of the leading forwards in world football.

Klopp, who managed Salah at Liverpool and won every major trophy with him in the attack, said he was impressed by the Egyptian’s ability to maintain such a high standard.

“I feel something special whenever I talk about Mohamed Salah,” Klopp said on Haberts. “I often ask myself how he maintains this level, despite his age. He scored his first hat-trick yesterday with Trabzonspor and the future will be better for him.”

The former Liverpool boss also highlighted Salah’s goal contribution from a wide position, saying the forward was outperforming many recognised strikers in the Turkish league.

“He is playing his first season in Turkey and look what he is doing in the league Mohamed Salah is sweeping the Turkish league,” Klopp said. “Despite being a winger, he scores more goals than many strikers and helps his team achieve better results.”

Klopp added that Salah remained a threat until the final whistle because of his ability to change a match at any moment.

“No one can doubt Mohamed Salah until the match is over, because he is capable of making a difference at any moment,” he said.

The former manager also described his reaction to Salah’s third goal against Galatasaray, praising both the run and the finish.

“After Mohamed Salah’s third goal, I stood up to applaud him,” Klopp said. “It was a great run and a perfect finish into the net. Mohamed Salah reminded me of our days at Liverpool and what he did there. He gave me back that confidence that makes me believe anything is possible.”
