Abdulahi Kawawa: Uganda midfielder joins Lugazi from NEC FC
Uganda attacking midfielder Abdulahi Kawawa has joined Lugazi from NEC FC on a free transfer, completing his move to the Uganda Premier League club on 19 September 2026.
Kawawa, 25, arrives at Lugazi after less than seven months with NEC FC. He joined NEC from Express on 9 February 2026, also in a free transfer, before making his latest switch within Uganda’s top division.
The midfielder began that spell at Express after leaving Arua Hill in July 2023. His move to Lugazi therefore represents his third club change since departing Arua Hill, with each of his two most recent transfers completed without a fee.
Kawawa’s preferred position is attacking midfield, giving Lugazi a player whose main role is to operate in the central creative area. He is listed as a Ugandan national and was 25 at the time of the transfer.
The move took place during the 2026-27 Uganda Premier League season. Lugazi and NEC FC both compete in the division, meaning Kawawa remains in the same league following his departure from NEC.
Kawawa’s recorded market value is €100,000, matching the highest value listed for him. His current performance record for the 2026-27 Uganda Premier League campaign shows no appearances, goals or assists across the four possible matches recorded.
The transfer continues a career spent in Ugandan domestic football. Before joining NEC, Kawawa represented Express, while his earlier senior club was Arua Hill. His arrival at Lugazi follows that sequence of moves through the country’s top-flight competition.
Lugazi have now secured Kawawa’s services without a transfer fee, with the attacking midfielder joining the club on 19 September 2026.
