Al Ahli Saudi’s five most valuable players before Mamelodi Sundowns tie

Mamelodi Sundowns are set to face Al Ahli Saudi in a FIFA Intercontinental encounter, with the Saudi club boasting a squad featuring several of the most valuable players in the competition.

Here are the five highest-valued members of The Royals, according to Transfermarkt.

5. Roger Ibanez – Brazil – €18m/R338m

Roger Ibanez is regarded as one of the leading defenders in the Saudi Pro League and has played an important role in Al Ahli’s successive AFC Champions League triumphs.

The Brazilian centre-back rose to wider prominence during his time at Roma, helping the Italian club win the inaugural UEFA Europa League title in the 2021/22 season under Jose Mourinho.

Ibanez, who is 27, also featured for Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

4. Galeno – Brazil – €20m/R375m

Galeno became one of the most sought-after wingers after his performances for Porto following the 2023/24 season.

Al Ahli Saudi made him their record signing in January 2025, paying a reported €50m (R938m) for the Brazilian.

The 28-year-old has since contributed to the club’s success in continental competition and remains one of the more valuable players in The Royals’ squad.

3. Ivan Toney – England – €20m/R20m

Ivan Toney has continued to score regularly since joining Al Ahli Saudi from Brentford in August 2024.

Francisco Trincao tops the list with a market value of €40m (R751m).

The Portugal international joined Barcelona in 2020 after developing in his homeland, where he had spells with Porto and Braga. However, the 26-year-old struggled for regular opportunities at The Blaugrana.

He was subsequently sent on loan to Wolverhampton Wanderers, but was unable to make a significant impact there either.

Trincao later rebuilt his career at Sporting before attracting the attention of the Saudi giants.
