Emile Witbooi extends Roc Nation Sports International partnership

Cape Town City attacker and South African youth international Emile Witbooi has renewed his association with Roc Nation Sports International (RNSI), maintaining the relationship as interest in his development continues to grow.

The 18-year-old was pictured with an RNSI representative in the agency’s latest announcement, which said: “The journey continues with RNSI. Excited to keep building and winning together.”

The announcement does not represent a move to a new club, but confirms the continuation of Witbooi’s links with the organisation.

Witbooi has attracted attention from overseas clubs for some time and has already experienced the European football environment. He spent time on assessment with Premier League club Chelsea and has also been linked with Bayern Munich and Sporting Lisbon.

Cape Town City chairman John Comitis confirmed in August that the club had received an invitation for Witbooi to visit Bayern Munich. Despite the significant media interest surrounding the teenager, Cape Town City have maintained an R18-million asking price.

His emergence was recognised in 2025 when he was named in The Guardian’s Next Generation selection, which identifies promising young players from across the world.

Witbooi has also established himself in South Africa’s youth international set-up. He was selected by Raymond Mdaka for the Amajita squad at the COSAFA U20 Championship, after previously representing the South Africa U17 side at the U17 FIFA World Cup.

He played a key role in South Africa’s success at the 2025 Region 5 Games U20 tournament, recording three assists in the team’s 3-0 final victory against Malawi.

The attacking midfielder has already made his mark in Cape Town City history. In March 2025, he became the club’s youngest player to appear in the Betway Premiership when he made his senior debut at the age of 16.

That progress has generated considerable interest in South Africa as well as abroad, with Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns among the clubs linked with him.

For now, though, Witbooi remains a Cape Town City player and the latest RNSI statement points to an ongoing partnership rather than an imminent transfer.

His development will continue to be followed closely as he builds his career in South Africa while retaining connections with the European football market.
