Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho hails Yan Diomande after impressive display against Elche
Real Madrid coach José Mourinho has praised Ivorian youngster Yan Diomande following another impressive performance, highlighting the winger’s continued development and growing importance to the team.
Diomande, who joined the Spanish giants from RB Leipzig impressed in his second start of the season as Real Madrid secured a hard-fought 3-2 win over Elche on Tuesday night.
The talented Ivorian winger capped off an impressive performance with an assist as Real Madrid secured maximum points in the match.
However, Mourinho has expressed satisfaction with Diomande’s contribution during the match and believes the young attacker is steadily improving as he gets more playing time and builds his match fitness.
“Yan was so good! He’s improving, getting minutes in his legs. It’s not easy to play 90’ with a yellow card,” Mourinho said.
Diomande managed to remain disciplined despite being booked early in the game, completing the full 90 minutes while continuing to contribute to Real Madrid’s attacking play.
The Portuguese coach was particularly impressed with the youngster’s ability to maintain his level throughout the match despite the added pressure of playing on a yellow card.
“He did an amazing job, I’m very happy,” Mourinho added.
Diomande’s performances have continued to attract attention as he adapts to the demands of top-level football. His pace, directness and ability to take on defenders have provided another attacking outlet for Real Madrid.
Mourinho’s latest comments also underline the trust being placed in the Ivorian, with regular minutes allowing him to gain valuable experience and improve his understanding of the team’s tactical demands.
The youngster will now look to build on his latest display and continue his development as the season progresses.
