Wydad Casablanca complete late deal for Burkina Faso defender Issoufou Dayo

Wydad Casablanca have completed the signing of Burkina Faso international Issoufou Dayo during the final hours of the summer transfer window, according to information obtained by Africafoot.

The 35-year-old central defender has agreed a one-season contract with the Casablanca club, with an option to renew.

Dayo had appeared set to join Moghreb de Tetouan after reaching an agreement with the club several days ago. Africafoot had reported the proposed move exclusively, but the deal changed direction after the player made further financial demands.

Moghreb de Tetouan subsequently chose not to proceed, deciding that the revised salary expectations exceeded the financial limit set by the club. Africafoot revealed the development exclusively in recent hours.

That decision left the way open for Wydad Casablanca, who moved quickly to conclude the transfer and persuade Dayo to join their squad. The Moroccan club have strengthened their defence with a player accustomed to the demands of top-level African football.

Dayo spent last season in Qatar with Umm Salal before deciding to return to the Moroccan league. He will now wear the Wydad Casablanca shirt after agreeing to a contract that runs for one season, with the possibility of an extension.
