Naim Sliti stays in Qatar as African transfer news dominates 14 September

Naim Sliti has joined Al Ahli SC on a one-year contract with the option of an additional season, choosing to remain in Qatar after leaving Al Shamal at the end of his previous deal.

The Tunisia international was a free agent and has moved to Al Ahli SC without a transfer fee. His agent, Majid Ashria, told Maghreb-Foot that the 34-year-old had received offers from several leagues but preferred to stay in Qatar because of his familiarity with the domestic championship.

Ashria also described the return to Al Ahli SC as a logical decision at this stage of Sliti’s career.

Orebonye leaves Wydad Casablanca

Tumisang Orebonye has left Wydad Casablanca after both parties agreed to terminate his contract, according to Wydad Shorts.

The Botswana international spent last season on loan at Libyan side Al Shomooa SC and is now free to sign for another club.

Orebonye won the CAF Confederation Cup with USM Alger in 2023. During his time in Morocco’s Botola Pro, he made 71 appearances, scoring 14 goals and providing seven assists.

As previously reported by Africafoot, COD Meknes are strongly interested in signing the forward.

Moghreb de Tetouan sign Aboubacar Konate

Moghreb de Tetouan have continued their squad rebuild ahead of their return to Morocco’s top flight by signing Aboubacar Konate from Stade d’Abidjan.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has arrived as part of the promoted club’s efforts to add technical quality and freshness to its squad.

Moghreb de Tetouan have not disclosed the financial terms or length of Konate’s contract. The move follows a successful 2025/26 season in Cote d’Ivoire and represents the first overseas experience for the Abobo-born player.

Dempo SC target two Ghanaian players

Indian club Dempo SC are preparing for the new season and have completed the signing of Brazilian striker Cledson Carvalho da Silva.

The five-time national champions are now pursuing Ghanaian forward Richmond Owusu, according to information published by The Times of India.

Ghanaian centre-back Asonaning Bududo is also expected to join the club soon, completing Dempo SC’s foreign-player recruitment plans.

A club official confirmed that the Indian side are continuing to search both locally and internationally as they look to build a competitive squad.

Leeroy Owusu set for move to Israel

Israeli club Ihud Bnei Sakhnin have reached an agreement to sign Leeroy Owusu as they look to strengthen their defence.

The 30-year-old Dutch-Ghanaian right-back is set to join on a one-year deal, with the club holding options for two further seasons.

The transfer has not yet been formally completed. Its final confirmation depends on Owusu successfully passing medical examinations scheduled during the next 24 hours.
