Lazola Maku linked with Sundowns move after leaving Siwelele

South African midfielder Lazola Maku, currently without a club, has been linked with a move to Betway Premiership side Sundowns.

The 19-year-old defensive midfielder is available after leaving Siwelele FC on 1 July 2026. Maku joined Siwelele from SuperSport Reserves in July 2025 and made five Betway Premiership appearances, accumulating 235 minutes.

The reported link with Sundowns comes as Maku seeks a new club in South Africa. There is no indication that a transfer has been completed, and the terms of any potential move have not been disclosed.

Maku began his senior progression at SuperSport, moving from Ubuntu Cape Town to SuperSport’s youth system in 2023 before stepping up to the club’s reserve side later that year. He subsequently moved to Siwelele, where he recorded his first listed top-flight appearances.

His current market value is listed at €50,000, although that figure does not represent a confirmed asking price or transfer fee.

Maku remains without a club, while Sundowns are the side currently linked with his next move.
