Ruben Neves continues Al Hilal rehabilitation despite squad holiday

Ruben Neves has declined time off and is continuing his rehabilitation from injury at Al Hilal, despite his team-mates being on holiday.

The Portugal midfielder has maintained his treatment and recovery programme at the club, according to Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiyah.

Neves is suffering from lower abdominal pain, which ruled him out of Al Hilal’s 2-0 victory over Shabab Al Ahli Dubai in the fourth round of the AFC Champions League Elite league stage.

England international Ollie Watkins scored both goals for Al Hilal in the match.

The result restored Al Hilal’s winning form after their previous draw with Qatar’s Al Shamal and moved them to nine points in the competition. Shabab Al Ahli Dubai suffered their first defeat in the tournament and remain on nine points.

Brazilian Juan Bezerra, formerly of Zamalek, made his debut for Shabab Al Ahli Dubai in the match, coming on as a substitute at half-time in the 46th minute.

Al Hilal’s victory over Al Fateh also kept them top of the Saudi league with 30 points.
