Pyramids FC chase Asad Hamlawi

Pyramids FC have reportedly entered the race to sign Palestinian striker Asad Hamlawi, who previously attracted interest from Egyptian giants Al Ahly during the last transfer window.

The Universitatea Craiova forward has emerged as a potential attacking reinforcement for Pyramids, with the Egyptian club preparing to closely monitor his performances ahead of a possible move.

According to reports, Pyramids are planning to send representatives to watch Hamlawi in action when Universitatea Craiova face Albanian side Ignatia in the Europa League, as they assess his suitability for their attacking setup.

The Egyptian club’s interest comes after Al Ahly previously explored the possibility of securing the Palestinian striker’s signature but failed to reach an agreement with his Romanian employers due to their high financial demands.

Al Ahly had identified Hamlawi as one of their potential attacking reinforcements following the departure of Palestinian forward Wissam Abu Ali, with the club keen to bring in a striker capable of strengthening their goalscoring options.

The 25-year-old had also been linked with a move to the Red Castle in 2025. Although his agent acknowledged previous interest from Egyptian clubs, he clarified that Al Ahly had not submitted an official offer at the time.

However, Universitatea Craiova’s financial demands proved a major stumbling block, preventing Al Ahly from completing a deal and leaving the striker in Romania.

Digi Sport reports that Craiova have placed a €5 million valuation on Hamlawi, meaning Pyramids will have to meet the club’s asking price to stand a realistic chance of securing his services.

Should the deal materialise at that figure, Hamlawi’s transfer would rank as the fourth most expensive sale in Universitatea Craiova’s history.

He would trail Valentin Mihaila, who joined Italian side Parma for €9.5 million, Alexandru Mitrita’s €8 million move to New York City FC and Alexandru Cicaldau’s €6.5 million transfer to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Pyramids are also expected to face competition from other clubs that have previously been credited with an interest in the Palestinian international. Spanish side Getafe, Russian outfit Rubin Kazan, German club Mainz and Greek giants AEK Athens have all been mentioned as potential suitors.

Hamlawi’s impressive numbers at Craiova

The Palestinian striker has enjoyed an impressive campaign with Universitatea Craiova, registering 11 goals and one assist in 19 appearances across all competitions.

His performances have attracted considerable attention, with his market value currently estimated at €2 million by Transfermarkt.

However, Craiova’s €5 million valuation is significantly higher, and Pyramids will have to decide whether they are prepared to meet the Romanian club’s demands to win the race for his signature.
