Renato Sanches: Getafe linked with move for Portuguese midfielder

Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches, currently without a club, has been linked with a move to La Liga side Getafe.

The 29-year-old became a free agent after leaving Paris St-Germain on 1 September, following the end of his latest loan spell. Sanches spent the 2025-26 season at Panathinaikos, joining the Greek club on loan from PSG on 24 August 2025 before returning to the French champions on 30 June.

He subsequently departed PSG and is now being considered for a move to Spain, with Getafe identified as his potential destination. No transfer fee or contract details have been reported.

Sanches joined PSG from Lille in August 2022 for a reported €15m and spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Roma before returning to France. He was also loaned to Benfica in 2024-25, helping the Portuguese club win the League Cup.

A central midfielder, Sanches began his senior career at Benfica and moved to Bayern Munich in 2016 after helping Portugal win the European Championship. He won four German league titles during his time with Bayern, as well as two French titles with Lille and PSG.

His current market value is listed at €2m. A move to Getafe would represent his latest change of club after a season with Panathinaikos and his departure from PSG.
