Golden Arrows move Kaizer Chiefs fixture from Durban to Mbombela

Lamontville Golden Arrows’ fixture against Kaizer Chiefs has been moved from Durban to Mbombela after the club was unable to secure a suitable venue in the city.

The match was initially scheduled for King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday, 19 September 2026. It will now be played at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Sunday, 20 September 2026, with kick-off at 15h00.

In a statement, Lamontville Golden Arrows said the relocation had been forced by circumstances beyond the club’s control.

“Lamontville Golden Arrows Football Club wishes to advise supporters and other stakeholders that our match against Kaizer Chiefs Football Club originally scheduled to take place in Durban on 19 September 2026 has been moved to Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Sunday, 20 September 2026 at 15h00,” the club said.

“The Club explored all available options but was unable to secure a suitable alternative venue in Durban. The match therefore had to be relocated due to circumstances beyond the Club’s control.”

The club apologised to supporters, particularly those in Durban and the surrounding areas who had planned to attend the fixture.

“The Club recognises that this is a highly anticipated fixture and sincerely apologises for the inconvenience caused by the relocation, particularly to supporters in Durban and the surrounding areas who were looking forward to attending the match,” the statement added.

Lamontville Golden Arrows also thanked Kaizer Chiefs and other stakeholders for their co-operation during the process of changing the venue.

“The Club thanks all stakeholders, particularly Kaizer Chiefs Football Club, for their understanding and co-operation throughout the venue-change process.”

Kaizer Chiefs currently sit third in the standings with 11 points from five matches. Lamontville Golden Arrows are ninth, having collected six points from six games.

Before the rearranged fixture, Kaizer Chiefs will travel to face Polokwane City this coming weekend, while Lamontville Golden Arrows will play Siwelele.
