Despite not yet featuring for Orlando Pirates this season, Kabelo Dlamini has reportedly impressed with his commitment and work behind the scenes.
The experienced midfielder has continued to train while waiting for an opportunity under head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou. Sources close to the club indicate that Dlamini’s attitude and application have been noticed by the technical team.
His situation has drawn increased attention since the departure of Patrick Maswanganyi, who joined Bahrain Premier League side Alkhaldiya Sports Club in August.
Maswanganyi’s exit led to expectations that Dlamini might be given a more prominent role in the Orlando Pirates midfield. However, Ouaddou has continued to assess his options, with younger players including Simphiwe Masilela and Thapelo Mokobodi also competing for selection.
Dlamini has been working to regain his fitness and form after a lengthy injury lay-off. He is understood to remain focused on making himself available whenever an opportunity arises.
The 30-year-old has yet to make a competitive appearance during the current campaign, but his experience and qualities could still provide Orlando Pirates with another midfield option as the season develops.
For now, Dlamini must continue working to earn the confidence of the coaching staff, with competition for places remaining strong at the Soweto club.
