Italy and Cameroon midfielder Franco Tongya is being linked with a move from Genclerbirligi to Rubin Kazan, with the Russian Premier Liga club showing interest in the 24-year-old.

Tongya has started all four of Genclerbirligi’s Super Lig matches this season and has scored once, completing the full 360 minutes played. The central midfielder joined the Turkish club from Salernitana on a free transfer in September 2025.

He previously spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at AEK Larnaca, where he was named Cyprus League Player of the Year, before moving to Danish side Odense BK. Salernitana subsequently signed him for €700,000 in July 2024.

Tongya began his career in the Juventus academy and made the move to Marseille B in January 2021 for a reported €8m before continuing his senior career in Denmark, Cyprus, Italy and Turkey.

The midfielder’s current contract with Genclerbirligi runs until 30 June 2027. His market value is listed at €2m, while Rubin Kazan’s interest comes with Tongya established in the starting line-up at the Ankara club this season.
