Carlisle United sign England and Kenya winger Micah Obiero from Wealdstone
England and Kenya winger Micah Obiero has joined Carlisle United from Wealdstone, strengthening the National League club’s attacking options with a move completed on 9 September.
The 25-year-old right winger has agreed a contract with Carlisle running until 30 June 2028. Obiero, who was born in London, prefers his right foot and stands 1.77m tall.
He has made six National League appearances this season, starting every match, and has scored three goals. His performances have given him a 43% goal participation rate, while he has played every available minute in the competition.
Obiero returns to Carlisle after previously spending part of the 2020-21 season with the club on loan from Huddersfield Town’s under-23 side. He made that move in October 2020 before returning to Huddersfield in January 2021.
The winger subsequently left Huddersfield’s system permanently, joining Boston United from the club’s under-21 side in July 2022. He moved to Wealdstone later that year, completing a switch from Boston in October 2022.
Carlisle’s latest addition therefore brings previous experience of the club as well as familiarity with the National League. His ability to play on the right side of the attack provides the team with an option in a position he has occupied throughout his senior career.
Obiero’s early-season record includes three goals from 540 minutes of National League football. He has also received two yellow cards during those appearances, without being sent off.
The move sees him leave Wealdstone after nearly four years at the club and begin a new spell with Carlisle, where his contract is scheduled to run for the next two seasons beyond the current campaign.
Obiero is now a Carlisle United player under a deal that expires on 30 June 2028.
