Cristiano Ronaldo on target as Al Nassr secure fifth Saudi Pro League win

Cristiano Ronaldo scored as Al Nassr beat Abha 2-1 to record their fifth victory of the Saudi Pro League season.

Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a well-taken header, converting a precise cross from Angelo. The goal gave Al Nassr an early advantage and placed them in control of the match.

Abdullah Al-Hamdan doubled Al Nassr’s lead 13 minutes into the second half. He found the net in the 58th minute with a shot from inside the penalty area, putting his side 2-0 ahead.

Abha responded through Nabil Fekir, who reduced the deficit in the 75th minute. The former France international struck directly from a free-kick to score Abha’s only goal of the game.

Despite that late effort, Al Nassr held on to claim all three points and maintain their strong start to the campaign. The result moved them to 15 points from six matches, leaving them second in the Saudi Pro League standings.

They are level on points with leaders Al Hilal, with the two sides separated by goal difference. Abha remain at the foot of the table with one point.

The victory was Al Nassr’s fifth of the league season and continued a run that has kept them within touching distance of the leaders. Ronaldo’s opening goal and Al-Hamdan’s second proved decisive before Fekir’s late free-kick gave Abha hope of a comeback.

Al Nassr will return to Saudi Pro League action next Saturday when they face Al-Khaleej in the seventh round.

Abha will also be in action in the same round, taking on Diriyah on Sunday.
