Mykhailo Mudryk facing at least a month out with ankle injury

Mykhailo Mudryk is expected to be sidelined until at least October after suffering an ankle injury, according to ESPN.

The 25-year-old Tottenham Hotspur forward suffered a setback this week and is currently wearing a protective boot on his left leg. The latest injury is expected to keep him out for at least a month.

Mudryk joined Tottenham Hotspur shortly after the club completed deals for Omar Marmoush and Savinho from Manchester City. Tottenham Hotspur officially announced his signing before the summer transfer window closed.

His arrival reunited him with Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi, who knows the Ukraine international well from their time together at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Mudryk made his Tottenham Hotspur debut against Nottingham Forest, coming on as a substitute in the 74th minute of a goalless draw. It was his first appearance since November 2024, following his return from suspension.

The ankle problem now threatens to interrupt the early stages of his career at Tottenham Hotspur, with ESPN reporting that he will not be available until at least October.

Mudryk began his career at Metalist Kharkiv before moving to Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in 2014. Two years later, he joined Shakhtar Donetsk, progressing through the club’s youth teams before making his first-team debut at the age of 17.

He established himself as an important player for Shakhtar Donetsk, making 44 appearances and contributing to 29 goals. Mudryk helped the club win the Ukrainian Super Cup during the 2021-22 season and played a part in their Ukrainian Premier League title success in 2022-23. In the same year, he was named Ukraine’s Player of the Year.

Mudryk moved to Chelsea in January 2023 and made 73 appearances for the club, registering 21 goal contributions. His time at Chelsea was later interrupted by a suspension for a doping offence, after which he returned to competitive football.

At international level, Mudryk has won 28 caps for Ukraine and scored three goals. He also scored the decisive goal that secured Ukraine’s qualification for Euro 2024.

His move to Tottenham Hotspur came after a period in which he was working to rebuild his career following his suspension. However, the ankle injury and subsequent absence until at least October will now delay his involvement with the club.
