Karim Benzema: Newcastle linked with move for former Ballon d’Or winner

French-Algerian striker Karim Benzema, currently without a club, has been linked with a move to Newcastle in the Premier League.

The 38-year-old left Al-Hilal on 31 August after joining the Saudi club from Al-Ittihad in February 2026. He has since been listed without a club, with Newcastle emerging as the club linked with a potential move.

Benzema made two Saudi Pro League appearances for Al-Hilal this season, scoring once, and also featured in one King’s Cup match. His current market value is listed at €5m.

The former France international spent 14 seasons at Real Madrid after joining from Lyon in 2009, winning five Champions League titles and four La Liga championships. He won the Ballon d’Or in 2022 after scoring 27 league goals and 15 in the Champions League during that campaign.

Benzema moved to Al-Ittihad in 2023 following his departure from Real Madrid and was named Saudi Pro League Player of the Year in 2025. He won the Saudi Arabian title with Al-Ittihad in the 2024-25 season before moving to Al-Hilal.

There has been no confirmation of an agreement between Benzema and Newcastle, and the rumour remains unconfirmed. Benzema is currently without a club.
